You are asking that they be more direct, and who is to say what impact that might have, were they to comply? I for one don't feel qualified to question any of the band members' faith, their foundation, or their dedication to God based on what little is known about them through interviews and their lyrics. And neither do I feel this is any of my business. I just enjoy the music, the lyrics and the positive message that I interpret in ways that are personal to me. If they are a vehicle of faith to some, more power to them. Listening to music is not being spoon fed, you're right. But you're making this hard, and it shouldn't be. To ask for more answers to your questions is to limit your thinking, your reasoning, and your power of interpretation. Why not just take what you personally receive from the lyrics and look for the answers you seek elsewhere? All I'm asking is why do you care so much that Creed should they be more direct? They give you the basic elements of what they have to say in the songs. Some may try to read more into what they say, but did you ever stop to think, maybe this is not about a message and how it affects me? Maybe Stapp & co. wrote those lyrics to vent, to relieve himself of that troubled time and move on. Perhaps you are asking for something that wasn't there to begin with. Only you can decide that. I disagree that they step around the question of Christianity and spirituality in their music. I believe they attack the question of personal Christianity up front. Stapp has admitted that his upbringing and the principles of faith will always be an influence on his songwriting. He also says that each member of the band has a relationship with God. Now why would anyone want to know any more than that? To judge? To question? Or to just know?
