From: "deb" To: Date: Fri 24 May 2002 01:22:06 -0500 ================================================ The whole One Last Breath video had a feel of the dessert southwest--dry, barren, unforgiving. The woman was the only person on the video wearing something other than a dark color. Her costuming made me think of nourishment in a dry and unforgiving setting. Her tears of blood was symbolic of a bleeding heart. What I mean by that is that there is a sacrifice and it is her heart. A constrast to this could be in "With Arms Wide Open", the lyrics state "and tears of joy, stream down my face..." There is a feeling of new life coming in that song. But in the One Last Breath video, tears of blood stain HER face and those tears are falling into a bowl of water, and Stapp sings, "sad eyes follow me..." a new scene in the surreal dessert southwest, and he continues singing, "But I still believe there's something left for me... So please come stay with me... 'Cause I still believe there's something left for you and me" The water could be a symbol of hope and refreshment in a dessert of no hope. She passes her cup (bowl) to Stapp and then goes away. She's given up hope for their relationship. As I thought about the stone towers and surreal figures, there are formations of people and critters who have fallen and hardened, becoming rock. The clay man is still moving in the side of the stone tower, he still has life in him but is already turning to stone--no water. Stapp is looking at the blood stained bowl as he sings, "Hold me know, I'm six feet from the edge and I'm thinkin'" as he drops the blood stained bowl. "maybe six feet ain't so far down." So I'm viewing this blood and water filled bowl being dropped as him giving up hope, leaving the impression that the character he plays in this video will also become dried up and part of the petrified surreal dessert. >Date: Thu, 23 May 2002 22:14:02 -0400 >From: Creed 7M3 Live >Subject: Re: New video ...
