Actually, that's not always true.  There was an interview when the single was first released, where Scott claims that "My Sacrifice" was writen about Jagger.  It's in the archives if anyone cares enough to go look... it will be around the time of the single release.  I'd dig up the URL, but since I'm the one that made the archives, you're SOL.
Oh, hell with it.  I found it in my sent items.  Here's the article.  Remember that this was posted in October 12th, so there's a good chance that some links won't work anymore.  Credit Agie for posting it origionally.

Creed Offers Up 'My Sacrifice'

(10/11/01, 5 p.m. ET) -- Creed's "My Sacrifice" has been released to radio. The track is the first single from the band's new album Weathered, due out November 20. A tour is being planned to support the album, but dates had been announced at press time.

Creed vocalist-songwriter Scott Stapp told LAUNCH about the concept behind "Sacrifice," which was inspired by the birth of his son, Jagger. He talked about how the event broadened his awareness, and made him realize the sacrifices he would make for his son.

"The world is bigger than just me now," he said. "Before I was a daddy, I think, especially being a daddy in my twenties, in my early twenties, you're pretty selfish in your mid-twenties and early twenties. And a lot of people aren't at that time thinking about the grand scheme of things and thinking about what's going to be left behind, or what kind of legacy they're leaving behind, or how they're affecting people in their lives. You're just thinking about what you're going to do that day, or what you're going to do next week, or that job you're trying to get, or what your dreams are. It's about you. At least it was for me."

Hi all,
Just joined the site so still to get into it fully but i have a question re My Sacrifice that's causing a bit of a disagreement between me and my girlfriend.
It's nothing too major - and i'm not looking too deeply into the lyrics or anything - i just think i'm right and she thinks she is. Maybe you guys can settle it??!!
It's concerning the line - "When you are with me I’m free…I’m careless…I believe"
Does it mean - "when i'm with you you make me feel free, so free that i'm careless and you also make me believe - believe in myself and everything"? Or does it mean -"when i'm with you you make me feel free and i believe that i'm careless because you make me feel so free"?
Only a slight difference and it does make a difference depending how you interpret it.
If ANYONE knows the true interpretation i'd be grateful as it's costing me a small fortune in headache tablets and ear plugs!!
Thanks for you help in sorting this out and i hope i haven't scared you all with the question!
