I do not agree.  I find Creed's lyrics to be introspective, meaningful, and inspirational.  The "darker corners" you refer to could allude to different occurances or situations in nearly everyone's lives, so that would make the music an omniumgatherum of meaning.  Of course, the band always says that they want the fans to derive their own interpretations of their songs, so whatever floats your boat, I guess.
