================================================ Subject: One Last Breath From: "Rebecca Sweet" To: Date: Wed 24 Apr 2002 01:10:46 EDT ================================================ Here's my interpretation of "One Last Breath", along with the reason it moves me so much: The speaker has come to a point in his life where he feels like his world is caving in and that anything he tries to do to stop it will not help. He is crying out to closest friend to hold him in his despair because he feels helpless and can't escape. He has tried his best but can't go on anymore because he has lost his own strength. He is considering giving up entirely on life for good because it seems like his only way out. The only thing keeping him from turning this consideration into reality is the idea that there may be something left for him in the future, along with something left for him and his friend. The reason this moves me to tears is because I have been in the speaker's place for a long time. There is not a single word in that song that does not apply to me. For me, that closest friend is actually my boyfriend, who is my best friend. Sometimes the only thing that keeps me going is remembering that he loves me and takes care of me, and there may still be greater things for us in the future. It's so powerful to listen to a song that describes you so perfectly. It's also very calming to know that someone else feels the same way you do about life.
