First, there are TONS of people on here who NEVER flame other members. We normally see posts from about 30-40 people, with the occasional "Hi, I'm new" thrown in. There were, last I KNEW, over THREE HUNDRED people here. Second, there are maybe a dozen of us, myself most definitely included, who actively FLAME people, much like I flamed all those thieves in the recent "stealing is okay" thread. Third, if Ed and the powers that be would have started APPLYING THE RULES, rather than waiting until the whole list (read: those that actually DO post) descended into chaos, moderation never would have been an issue. For that matter, it still SHOULDN'T be. Ban the people who can't or won't abide by the clearly posted rules, and leave the rest of the list alone. -----Original Message----- From: Creed Discussion List [mailto:CREED-DISCUSS@WINDUPLIST.COM] On Behalf Of Asaf Atiya Sent: Saturday, March 16, 2002 3:49 PM To: CREED-DISCUSS@WINDUPLIST.COM Subject: Re: What if your words could be judged like a crime? (WAS: Msg From Admin: List Changes) I don't >think< you're metaphor is in place, and I'll explain why. As you may have noticed, there aren't many people on this list which haven't flamed, attacked, and sent other intentionally hateful messages to other list members. Consequently, dealing with them equates dealing with the whole list. There isn't just one shoplifter in this shop... Moreover, the task that you have suggested for the moderators is time consuming, and many other issues might arise while performing it - such as deciding what is the line, who is guilty and what are the punishments. But regardless of that, I want to ask you a question, because this I just can't understand: What are you fighting for? You're right to curse? Or is this just a matter of principle?
