================================================ Subject: Re: Seems our music thieves have moved on to easier targets From: "Keith Mears" To: Date: Sun 10 Mar 2002 23:02:52 -0500 ================================================ You're totally missing the point, Nikki. I can't speak for Greg, or Dave, or any of the others who have voiced an opinion similar to my own, but I CAN speak for Debbi and myself when I say that the original point was not about whether or not it's illegal to download (read, in MOST cases: steal) music from the Internet. You, and many others like you, obviously feel it's NOT illegal, and I for one see no point in beating my head against the brick wall of your ignorance any longer. We've posted sources to SHOW it's illegal, and you all have turned a blind eye to them, so let's get back to the point we were REALLY trying to make. Forgotten what that was? Yeah, so has most of the rest of the list, so I'll remind you. The point was, it's INCREDIBLY STUPID to come on ANY band's OFFICIAL discussion list and start spouting off about your intentions to burn CD's of copyrighted material for distribution to friends. I will readily admit that I HAVE downloaded music from the Internet, and some of it has even been illegal, though the majority of what I've downloaded has been legal, i.e. endorsed by the band that was offering the download, as with Creed's singles. Do I still have some illegal MP3's? Sure. Am I claiming to be any better than anyone else despite that? Not at all. When I've downloaded "unendorsed" MP3's, I've become a thief just like any other person who does it. However, there's a very crucial distinction. While I HAVE obtained some stuff illegally, I make every effort NOT to do that anymore, and I don't go around telling anyone who will listen "Hey, just go ahead and download it if you can't afford to buy it, nobody gets hurt by that kind of thing", and even if I DID do that, I sure as hell wouldn't do it on a band's official list! -----Original Message----- From: Creed Discussion List [mailto:CREED-DISCUSS@WINDUPLIST.COM] On Behalf Of Nikki Rau Sent: Sunday, March 10, 2002 7:15 PM To: CREED-DISCUSS@WINDUPLIST.COM Subject: Re: Seems our music thieves have moved on to easier targets I am not trying to make people believe that it is okay to  steal music, its your preference whether you chose to download copywrited stuff, I chose to do so, a ton of people chose to do so, I do it ALOT, just as much as I buy cd's also, but me and the tons of other people do not deserve to get flamed for it.   The only reason that the lamers as you call us..(thats one attack there)  chose to retort is because we are sick of putting up with the righteous high and mighty assholes who post to this list that act like they own it.  I have been a part of this list for three years, and never have I experienced the kind of behavior that goes on here now, just about every single person who was on this list from day one is now gone because of this immature petty bullshit.  What kind of facts do you want? I stated I download music, what more facts do you need?  People are attacking you and others because we are sick of being treated like shit for having an opinion, and telling people to shut the fuck up is rude, and disrespectful and uncalled for.  I know now that I am going on a tangent here but I have had enough.  What happened to the topic of Creed on this list??  The last time that Creed was on tour we got about 500 emails a day and it was all about the tour, people talking about the shows, V writing to tell us about her mini Creed tours, everybody posting music news, anything music related was welcomed and now, when anybody posts anything Creed related, hardly anybody gives a damn and its forgotten almost immediately.  We usually have a rush of Creed concert reviews from people, but there have been very few, cause people don't want to post among all the bullshit that goes on here.  I know this list is called lamelist, congratulations,  a few of you people have made it that way,  because it never used to be like this.   Flame me all you want for my opinions because you all will anyway, I really don't care at this point.
