Gee... are you capable of making the connection here? Have you bothered to look into the agreement between Creed and Wind-Up? How about the upcoming agreement between Creed and the Virgo's? I noticed you failed to add in the cost of promotions... rentals... equipment... travel... studio time... mixing... distribution... If you don't want to spend the $20 on the songs you like, then don't listen to them. Stealing from the record company isn't going to make the cost of the CD any cheaper... Creed never gives anything back, right? How many bands have started their own charities? Held such things as softball tournaments to raise funds for homeless or cancer patients? How many bands donated time and money to the people who lost their jobs and families to the New York attacks? Where do you think that money comes from? Did it come from the thieves and morons that steal the music from online? Did you know that Wind-Up bands are constantly giving away free merchandise to their true fans? We get signed posters, signed lithographs (Lee, the pic is on it's way, I swear), signed CD's... the list goes on. How is that not giving back to their fans? We've been given the opportunity for free concert tickets and clothing too, before all the teenie-boppers, higher chicks, and music pirates came around the list. I think before you decide to jump in on this, you do some real research and get all the facts strait... don't bother spouting some generic numbers that you heard about from those that were mad at bands for suing Napster... get some solid numbers from actual record companies instead... unless of course you're one of those people that thinks that stealing of property is alright. If that's the case, maybe you should just remove yourself from the list... I'm sure you wouldn't want to be a member of something owned and run by slave-masters. ¤]\[][G}{T§TÖ®]v[¤ List Leader, so declares Dinah! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dave Pioli" To: Sent: Thursday, March 07, 2002 10:58 PM Subject: Music is for the people.... | Rock and roll was based souly on giving the PEOPLE want they want.. The | record label indrusty is the last form of slaverly that exist. Unless you | sell muti platnum cd over and ocer, Artist, and the fans are at the mercy of | the Label company. They are only concern in life is too make money of the | work of there artist, and give very little back. See this how it works..a | Label company will sell a CD for 15 dollars. The cost for them to make a CD is | only 5 dollars..out of the 5 dollars that goes to the engineers and | producers.. The artist get royalties after a certain amount of records have | been sold.. and the my only get like 5% of the sales..The artist willl get an | advance on the amount of Cd they are contracted to make. Out of that advance | you split it up amoung the band, managment, etc... the artist only makes they | re true money of the tour that they go on...that money is directly to them | I cant stand greedy rock stars who make they money of the blood and sweat | of there fans.. I say give alittle back to those who made you rich..All those | who call downloading stealing are hypocrates..Lars was talking in a interview | one time that he used to tape songs of the radio when he was a kid....hhmmm | isnit that stealing??..lol | I am not going to pay 20 buck on a Cd that only has 2 good songs out of 16 | tracks..
