Puddle Of Mudd Off Creed Tour, Stapp/Durst Feud To Blame?

(12/6/01, 3 p.m. ET) -- Creed will not be taking Puddle Of Mudd on tour when it hits the road starting January 15. Representatives for Puddle Of Mudd cancelled the dates with no explanation given, according to a statement released by Creed's management. The statement added that the members of Creed, their fans, radio stations, and concert promoters of the upcoming shows had been excited about the addition of Puddle Of Mudd to the U.S. dates.

Before the band pulled out, Puddle Of Mudd's appearance on the tour was confirmed by both bands' booking agencies and radio stations in each tour market.

Some are speculating that Puddle Of Mudd, who is signed to Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst's Flawless Records, may have backed out due to Creed's feud last year with the Bizkit singer. The verbal sparring erupted in the summer of 2000 after both bands appeared at a radio festival and accused the other of egotistical behavior. At one point, Creed singer Scott Stapp even challenged Durst to a boxing match.

However, Stapp now denies that any such feud ever existed. "Was there a problem? I don't know, man. Not that I ever heard. I never had a problem with Fred Durst."

Representatives for Puddle Of Mudd could not be reached by LAUNCH for comment at press time. The band will be playing a number of dates in December.
