Oh c'mon Debbi....parents are "supposed" to disagree??  Where's that rule written down??  Because apparently, I'm missing that page in my handbook!  Me and my daughters ARE best friends, and we DO share the same taste in music, clothing, and just about everything else.....there's nothing wrong with it!  Maybe it's my fervent desire to have a better, calmer, relationship with my daughters than the one I had with my own mother growing up....we did disagree on everything....her punishment was grounding.....oh how I loathed being grounded!  We argued about everything!  I couldn't wait to get the hell out of my house....I left at 17 and never looked back!  Now, why would I want that same type of relationship with my own kids?  Who needs that?

the whole "i'm best friends with my kids/parents" just creeps me out.. parents are supposed to be suspicious of your friends, think you're crazy for the hobbies you have, hate your choice in clothes styles, music and movie genres and basically give you a hard time.  it's what adolescence is all about!  call me old fashioned.

Even at my age, chris' mother makes me nuts.. she's got a new hobby of driving those mini race cars and she and chris go skydiving together.  WRONGORAMA.  Mothers are supposed to tell you how crazy you are for even entertaining the thought of skydiving.  NOT join it.
