Why not!! Anyway Nikki, Most of the computers that you buy come with installation or restore discs. The vendor usually has most of the computer devices preconfigured and is in my view the best option. Hang onto the OS that the computer is sold with. If you want to downgrade to windows 98. It would probably need to be from a full version and would most likely not be able to find your modem either. There are some improvements with ME. One of the improvements was that it found my Ethernet card and configured it properly. However, I had to install the accompanying software that was supplied from the vendor. Before Windows 98 would find it. But win98 is better than win 95. When it comes to recognizing software. when I had a computer and installed my ethernet card in it. Windows 95 changed all of my previously working interrupt settings. So I had to take out the ethernet card and lock down all of my interrupts. then install the ethernet card again and configure it. Backup your files. (MP3, letters to mom, etc). Then find the system restore disk and wipe out everything and start clean. After XP gets the drivers for the stuff that is on your computer. You might be able to try it again. But XP has a file that it uses to assure that only one computer has the installation. I'm sure that you would have been denied access to your computer in a short while. Just my advice, Jim BTW - We are getting XP at work. Hooraaay!!!! - does anyone know how the TTY driver works with XP? - I hope that it works correctly. -- Nobody wants constructive criticism. It's all we can do to put up with constructive praise.
