I thought My Sacrifice was fairly decent, except the fade on the high notes (as you say, lack of warm-up), but Bullets was AWFUL.  My mom watched it with me, and as soon as they started playing she just gave me this really weird look.  When they finished, she said (and I quote) "I'll stick with METALLICA."  I'm STILL in shock over that one.

I just watched it and that's why I'm looking for the archives... 'cause everything I said a few weeks ago about bands performing on SNL was true.  Not warmed up, sucky acoustics, etc.
 
I actually thought that all things considered, it was pretty good.  I'd say see them early on the tour, though.  His voice will be wrecked in short order and he won't be hitting the high notes for very long.   It didn't sound at all like the studio versions of the songs, but that's just fine.  Not much live does.  At least the good stuff.  Live engineering can only go so far.
