I also have heard from my friend who sings, that there are those "high notes" in "MS" and it's very difficult to sing.
 
But the other reason why he didn't sound very good (as some say, I haven't seen him) MAY be, that it was the first time when he sings the new songs, maybe he doesn't "feel" those songs so good yet or something. He just needs some time and practice with singing new stuff. Just a thought...

Tara mentioned the "hight notes" on my sacrifice when it was released and i mentioned to keith or someone that getting to those notes on tour's gonna suck for him 'cause his voice doesn't last long.
 
In addition to a coach, he could use to take specific care of his throat.  I know some rock singers (well, ok one in particular) that is VERY careful of his throat and he's been fronting a band as well as solo stuff for 20 years and every night sounds just as good as the last.  All the bootlegs as well as the released stuff prove that he's doing something right with his voice.
