Can't speak as to Bob Dylan, but I would venture to say that Petty's voice (BTW, I personally like his music) isn't so much a "Dylan wannabe" as a reflection of DECADES of smoking, and I think we all know I don't mean tobacco!

 Hey Maddy......I never even read the Brown ed guys' post, but I was reading your reply and this jumped out at me.....how totally true, huh?  Funny, I just posted this very thing to the BHC board....oh how I hate Tom Petty and his Dylan wannabe voice!  Again, I ask....why would ANYONE want to sound like Dylan??
