Well, I do have to disagree with you Keith, that  bandmembers would have no reason to occasionally check in and read what their fans are saying about them, be it on a discussion list, or a bulletin board, because these forums are a very good way for the band to guage fan reaction.  I'm acquainted with enough band members, from various groups, to know that they do indeed like to check that sort of thing.  Obviously, Stapp or any of the other members aren't likely to remain current members of the list, the volume of mail would be too overwhelming for them to keep up with...but it's a fairly well known fact that they DO watch the bulletin board....if not personally, then by close friends and family.

There has been occasion when Stapp has posted on the board in regards to heated discussion regarding various topics.....the Brian/Pearl Jam thing comes immediately to mind...but over the last year or so, I believe the band members have become quite disillusioned with the behavior of a large portion of their "so-called" fan base on the bulletin board...most notably, the high ratio of "trolls" that frequent it, so none of them have posted in a long time.  That of course, doesn't mean they don't read it!

Actually, Mad and I got into a fairly heated discussion about this very subject this past summer.  I have LONG believed (and have said as much here) that I can see no reason for ANY member of ANY band to really care WHAT is said on a list that bears their name.  The one exception would be if people were inciting or threatening violence, and a perfect example of what I mean can be found on http://www.metallica.com/.  In light of the terrorist attacks, there were some downright sickening posts on their official BB, which were removed, and which drew a response from the band declaring both Metallica.com and Metclub.com "hate-free zones".
