My goodness...I think I have figured out the problem here...we have all been completely mistaken for this is not a Creed discussion list, we are simply permitted to discuss what Keith wants to discuss it and we MUST at all times defer to his opinion.  In the future, we must be careful to follow what ever he says, for he is always right.  His opinion is right, the rest of us are wrong.  Since he feels that Fade to Black is a cry for help, then by God, James must have been wrong when stating what HE meant by it...Keith's opinion is the only one that matter.  Perhaps in the future, Scott, Mark and Scott should consult with Keith about any lyrics and music they may write, in fact, any decisons of the band should first be approved by Keith.  As for the List...perhaps we should send all posts to Keith first...if he approves them then he will forward them to the entire List...this would prevent any posts that Keith does not agree with getting out to the entire List.

I find trying to interpret the lyrics a bit interesting. But admit that
these two songs are not that interesting to relate a meaning to
verbatum.

But a general idea to the meaning of the song is interesting.

The "problem", as I see it, with looking for the meaning to a song is
that 9 times out of 10, while it may mean one thing to YOU, it may mean
the exact opposite to ME.  I refer again to "Fade to Black", which James
wrote as a vent for his feelings of anger, frustration, and despair
after the band's equipment was stolen from their truck in New York.  But
to me, it is a cry for help, and only one step removed from being a
suicide note.  For ME, the only meaning I really look for in ANY song is
"Is it good music?  Then I dig it."
