================================================ Subject: reposting the interview starting with 1 From: "Lisa King" To: Date: Fri 12 Oct 2001 03:22:02 +0000 ================================================ I am going to redo the whole interview since I do not remember where I broke it into the parts before. Oh, there is also someone trying to put the audio version up on their site. When they do I will post the site. Cain: Okay, on the line, Scott Stapp of Creed. SS: What's up guys? Cain: How are you Scott? SS: I'm doing pretty good, man. Cain: Long time no chat. Where you calling from anyway? SS: I am on the 6th hole at the Grand Cyprus Resort Golf Course. Cain: Wow. Nice course. SS: Yea, it's pretty nice man. I like it. Cabby (to Cain): Have you really heard of that course or are you just saying that? Cain: No dude, that's like one of the best courses. That's in Florida, right? SS: Yea, it's right here in Orlando. Right in the Windimere area. Cabby (to Cain): Dude, I'm a big golfer, you know that. Cain: So, how've have you been? SS: I've been doing good, man. I mean, just working hard on this record and trying to raise a son, and just, doing good, man. Just having a good time. Cain: How was the writing process this time? Because you only have to, you know, maybe top ten million record sales. Cabby: How do you top that? Cain: You don't. I don't think. SS: I'm gonna tell you the writing process and you can take it for what it's worth. Me and Mark wrote the album in three weeks. Cain: Is that faster or slower than like the previous records. SS: Uh, that's pretty fast. Cabby: You got mad skills. SS: We didn't know whether we wanted to put the album out this year or put the album out next year, and uh, me and Mark got on a streak and we just, the songs were coming and coming and coming and then all of the sudden we made a last minute decision that "Hey, we're gonna try to put the album out in November" because we liked all the songs we had and we were like "Let's just make a record." So we decided to do it and we're actually still mixing the record as we speak. When I get done here I've got to go to the studio and mix with John and Kirk, who are the producers and mixers on the record, mix one more song, and then we gotta go through them again and send it to mastering so, we're still in the process of making this record. Cabby: So then is it right back to work, I mean, you guys really haven't had that much time off. So to say. Usually people take some serious time off after a really big tour. Cain: Well, he's on the golf course. SS: Well, you know, I get some breaks. Cabby: What I'm saying is are you going right back out on the road? SS: In January we start our world tour. We like to put out an album every two years. Back in the 60's and 70's rock bands were putting out an album a year. Nowadays, because of the worldwide exposure it takes about 2 years to work a record. Cain (laughing): Well, and, see, when you get 14 singles off one record it takes about two years. SS: (laughing) I appreciate that Cain. Thanks. Cain: That's just the simple truth. Is there any hidden story about the guy that you booted out of the band that we may not know about? Is that just simple? SS: Basically, man it was just, you know, the routine answer man. Cain: I always expect Scott Stapp to give me the better than the routine answer. SS: Just personal differences. Basically that's what it boils down to. Just personal and musical differences. Brian's a great guy, I'll love him till the day I die, and you know, I wish him the best. He's actually in another band now that he formed. Cabby: Is that the band they call "Suck?" Cain (to Cabby): You instigator. SS: I think they're pretty good. They're called Grand Luxx. I think they are working on an album. You know, Brian's a great guy, it's just, you know, we had some personal differences and some lifestyle differences, and, I can't say anything but good things about him. It just didn't work out. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp To unsubscribe or change your preferences for the Creed-Discuss list, visit: http://www.winduplist.com/ls/discuss/form.asp
