================================================ Subject: interview repost 3 From: "Lisa King" To: Date: Fri 12 Oct 2001 03:31:30 +0000 ================================================ Cain: Where were you when the whole thing happened on the 11th. SS: I was laying in bed with my son, and I was awake before he was, and I was watching TV. My Director of Security ran in and said "Turn on CNN" and, at that point I saw the second plane hit the building. To be honest with you man, I started crying. I woke up my son, and I tried to explain to the best of my ability to a two year old, well, he'll be three in two weeks, to the best of my ability what was going on. His response was "Daddy" -- cause I tried to explain to him about war at a three year old level, cause I knew it was going to escalate to that. His response to me was "Daddy, if someone ever tried to take our home, we'll get him." You know, it was kinda profound for a 2 ½ year old of basically someone trying to take your home away. That's how he understood it. Cain: That's hard for all of us to understand. SS: And that's basically what's going on. They're trying to put fear in the hearts of Americans and there attacking our home. And, I think that it sucks that this had to happen to unite a generation. And I also think that it sucks that it took this event to get the news to America to have pride in our country again. Cabbie: Amen. Double Amen. SS: You know, it sucks that it happened, but, I believe all things happen for a reason. If it didn't happen now, it would have happened some other time but, we've got a great President. He's doing awesome. Guiliani in New York just blew me away. Impressed me tremendously. Cabbie: Oh yea. I think that's our next President if you ask me. SS: He just seemed like a great man. But, I stand firm behind our President. What he says, and I just feel for all the families there and, my foundation, With Arms Wide Open Foundation, has done as much as we could to try to help a lot of the children there that were orphaned. I believe 500 children – I could be wrong on that number – 500 children that were orphaned. That lost Mom and Dad. My foundation has done everything they could to focus on that. Because you know a lot of money has gone to the firefighters and the police departments and everything. You know, it's well deserved -- those guys are hero's, man. But we gotta remember the kids too. That's was very important to me and the director of our foundation, Cindy McNeely. Cain: Well, God bless you for all that stuff you're doing there. So, Weathered's in stores November 20th. My sacrifice, is there a story behind the single. SS: Well, basically you're gonna hear this from every band member. We don't like to give the story behind the song. We want every listener – a song means different things to different people. It's how you hear it, its you're background, it's the way you've lived your life. So, the reason I wrote that song could be completely different to someone else who hears it and how it applies to their life. And, I really don't want to divulge that because I don't want to change anyone's perception of what the song means to them. If the song touches them in a personal way or they feel something from it, which is what we're all about, then I don't want to do anything to discourage that. Cabbie: It's like a painting. Everybody looks at a painting and they see something different. The artist doesn't necessarily mean anything. He just painted it. SS: Exactly. Cain: When I look at a painting I just see paint. I'm not smart enough to understand paintings. SS: That's so funny because I was thinking my son was painting outside and he mixes all the colors so it turns black. I was like "Do I need to send my child to a psychologist?" All his paintings are black. You know, it started freaking me out, man. It's funny. I'm just like you Cain, I see paint. Cain: Scott, dude, pleasure as always and hopefully when you're back in town for the tour and for the record, hopefully maybe you'll do an in-store or something. We'll talk then. Cabbie: Yea, maybe we can have a sit down with Fred Durst. Just like the mob does. We'll get the two big music guys together and have a little sit down. I think that would be great. SS: I'll come to that meeting with peace and an open heart. He's gonna do the talking. Cain: Alright, man. Thank you for calling. SS: God Bless you guys and you're city. Stay strong up there and our hearts and mind's are with you guys. Cain: Good luck on you're golf game. SS: Thanks. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp To unsubscribe or change your preferences for the Creed-Discuss list, visit: http://www.winduplist.com/ls/discuss/form.asp
