From: To: Date: Fri 21 Sep 2001 06:19:53 +0000 ================================================ my friend's company has literally been shut down by this virus...i cannot reiterate scott's warning to have an active virus scan, up to date, running...the virus was just detected at the hospital i work at last night...thank god i was there, because everyone else wat totally 'puter illiterate...i'm only fairly literate myself, but recognized the problem immediately, was able to turn it over to our mis people, and it was handled...scott is quite capable of helping you all if you need up to date virus help, so if you need it, take advantage of him(you know i love you scott!) but seriously, if you need help, ask him...better safe than sorry... Lee (who lives in constant fear of her 'puter crashing, cuz i don't have a cdrw, so it's way to hard to save all of her stuff...) -- ~~they laugh at us because we're different; we laugh at them because they're all the same~~Drowning Pool ~~Be careful what you learn, sometimes knowing burns~~Virgos Merlot > If your virus scanner is up to date and set to detect this virus, it should > block it before it can get onto your computer. > From what I gather, what the virus does to the webpage is set up a line of > javascripting (much like what I use once in a while for the scrolling text > at the bottom of my mails) to auto-send and auto-execute the virus file when > you open a webpage. > From what I can gather, it basically turns the infected computer into a > remote host, telling it to share your main drive with anyone who knows what > to look for... much like a backdoor. > As long as you keep your virus scanner up to date (which you should be doing > anyway) and possibly also download the fix tool for this virus, you should > be fine. > I wouldn't concern myself all that much about it really... just keep > everything up to date and let your software take care of things. > > ¤]\[][G}{T§TÖ®]v[¤ > http://NightStorm.isyourgod.com/ > NightStorm_Draco_@hotmail.com > NightStorm_Draco@creedlist.com > NightStorm@isyourgod.com > I've seen the wicked fruit of your vine, Destroy the man who lacks a strong > mind > Human pride sings a vengeful song Inspired by the times you've been walked > on > My stage is shared by many millions, Who lift their hands up high because > they feel this > We are one We are strong, The more you hold us down the more we press on > What if you did?
