================================================ Subject: Re: All Add up to 11 (My thoughts) From: "Tara" To: Date: Sat 15 Sep 2001 14:47:17 -0400 ================================================ Actually, Melissa, I never once told anyone what they can and can't post. I made a request that people think about the value of what they're posting, and think about if it's going to needlessly worry or frighten people. My opinion is that the faces people see in the smoke is valid, because they're real... while posting a bunch of things that equal eleven is just silly, and a way to try to frighten people. I made the point that a lot of things can be made to equal eleven, things both related and not to the incident. I also, out of curiosity, made a list of several incidents surrounding the Pentagon that all add up to 8, but decided not to send that. So is there some plot including the number 8 in addition to the plot with the number 11? Part of the point that I was trying to make was that just because things add up to 11, there is NO relevance to the matter at hand. It's the same as the fake prophecies being sent around - a way to scare gullible people into thinking that there are deeper meanings and hidden motives in the hijackings. And maybe I'm the only one you see with a problem with the e-mails you've sent, but I've also seen at least a couple of posts supportive to my opinion. The thing is, if one looks hard enough, you can find "coincidences" everywhere. Just because I found several names in my own life that add up to the number 11, does that mean that I'm involved in the plot too? Just because I found several things related to the Pentagon hijacking that add up to 8, does that mean that the world will end on the 8th day following the attacks? No. It's a coincidence, and one that someone had to SEARCH for at that. Again, my point is that people should think and do a little research before they start passing "conspiracy" e-mails around, either to the list or just forwarding them to people in general. It would save a lot of needless worrying for a lot of people. As for religion... I respect that there are a lot of different views in the world, and I try to respect both the people who hold those views and the views themselves. However, I don't believe everything I read, and I don't believe that the world is on the verge of ending because of this incident. It was a horrible thing, but I don't believe the end of the world is at hand because it happened. It also seems, in MY OPINION, that the Christians of the world should be the ones trying to support and uplift people, and help them make it through this tragedy... not point out silly little coincidences in numbers in an attempt to make people think that something worse is at hand. Perhaps I'm mistaken, since I'm not a Christian, but my view of Christians is that they should try to help other people in times of need. I try to do that WITHOUT being worried that my soul would be in peril if I didn't. But regardless of my religion, I still think that it's stupid and a bit cruel to post potentially frightening things without thinking about if they're relevant, or even true.
