I look at the absense of a bass player, as saying that the role of bass is not a really important element of the band. It could be done by others in the group. I looked it at it from the greed angle also. Since there are less to split up the album royalties between. They seemed to have said that they jammed with the drummer. Then picked him. Since he seemed to fit in. Why they didn't even mention a search for a bassist. Or came out and just said that they felt the role of a bassist was unimportant is beyond understanding. I doubt that they are "hurt" about thier troubles with Brian. I guess that they could be chicken about changing thier direction. Among a more experienced band member. The temp bass player does sound like a control thing. But again. I look at it from a profitability standpoint. He gets paid for the tour. But gets nothing, after the tour. No royalties from album sales.
