================================================ Subject: Re: NCR: speed limit school spirit From: To: Date: Mon 10 Sep 2001 03:14:55 EDT ================================================ wow, I thought you said you had NOTHING to do.... We used to have alot of school spirit at our school.. We had the best football team in the area. But then our three STAR players KILLED somebody at a party and are all in jail now.. It was very very sad.. I knew the guy they killed pretty well.. His name is Chris O'Leary, ever read or hear about him in the news?? I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL!!! There is NOTHING to do where I live. We have a movie theater, but all the junior high kids go there and they think they're SO cool. It's sickoning, really. Last year, my friends and I went to see Charlie's Angels, and there were a couple of 6th graders sitting next to me--totally making out and groping the whole time. Talk about YUCK!!!! If they had been my age I wouldn't have cared as much, but I think being 11 or 12 is too young to be doing that kinda stuff. Then the 7th and 8th graders there wouldn't shut up--they talked and giggled through the whole show. On Friday nights most of the high schoolers go to the football games (American...sorry Ross...our soccer teams don't get much attention here), and then maybe to the soc hops after, or to a party or something. Last year my school's football team went to the State Championship so we have a LOT of school spirit. But for me the band nerd, I have to do post-game (a pointless thing at home games, we march on the field, play three songs, and march off), THEN go back to the band room (march back rather), THEN turn in my uniform, THEN put away my piccolo, and when it's all said and done, the soc hop is over, and it's too late to go to a party. So usually what I end up doing is either going bowling (teen night until 2 A.M. at our local bowling alley), or going to Max & Erma's, the "official" band restaurant. If it's an away game, by the time we get back it's sometimes too late to go anywhere at all, so we just go home. So then what happens to the teenagers when football season is over? Well, there are a number of things... --We go to The Boot, Phantasm, or Dance.Com, three teen dance clubs. But that's only if someone feels like making the 45 minute drive to one of them. --We hang out at someone's house --If someone's parents are out of town, it is pretty much guaranteed that the whole high school will be over there partying --The movie theater, if we feel like dealing with a bunch of jr. high schoolers who think they're all that --Fun & Stuff, an arcade/roller rink/laser tag/mini-golf place that's close by --Six Flags, but that's mainly in the summer, September, and October (went last night, and closed at 8:30!!!!!! On a weekend!!!!!! Grrrrrr...) --Dying of boredom?????????? --->|Gina|<--- e-mail me "Carry on my wayward son, there'll be peace when you are done, lay your weary head to rest, don't you cry no more..."--Kansas On Sun, 9 Sep 2001 14:31:20 EDT Moonchild119@AOL.COM writes: > See, I wish it was like that here...
