Figures. I tried taking 94 to Old Orchard Rd. for a LONG time, but i got so sick of sitting there in traffic, I figured that even with all the stoplights 41 was a better choice. Plus to take 94 is to go too far West. I'm all the way East, and have to head out West to 41 or 94, and come almost all the way back to the lake once I get off at Old Orchard. But if I take Sheridan, which is right on the lake, I'm dealing with the 35 MPH speed limit almost the entire way. So it's no quicker. The most direct way is Route 83 all the way, but that's about two hours without traffic, because you have to go through so many other suburbs on your way. The FASTEST way (traffic permitting, of course) is 294 North to Lake Cook Rd, and then west on Lake Cook. Of course, that's usually the WORST traffic, so I always went 294 to 88 West to 355 North, then (again, depending on traffic) 290 until it ends at Lake Cook. Any way you go, it's a haul.
