================================================ Subject: another Creed related From: "Lisa King" To: Date: Thu 30 Aug 2001 15:44:13 +0000 ================================================ Since we have not had a lot about Creed lately thought you might like to read about someone meeting Scott Stapp. For length I will do it in two parts. posted 08-07-2001 01:14 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OK, here is the detailed posting people have been asking for. Ok guys, I had no idea that many people would be interested in hearing about a two hour plane flight with Scott Stapp. Of course, you have to remember, I’m probably a generation ahead of some of you, and Lynyrd Skynyrd is to me what Creed is to you, so I can relate to you wanting to hear all about it. I don’t own any Creed music in my collection (yet), but I have friends who do, and we play Creed on our jukebox in the one-horse Texas town in which I live. Here goes: My wife and I had been vacationing in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and spent the night in Orlando on Friday so we could be at the Orlando airport for a flight on Saturday august 3rd. By coincidence, we ended up traveling back to Dallas first class because of a cancellation. Ha! Paid for coach, and got first class! Anyway, we were to sit on the 3rd row on the left side of the plane. As we were boarding, I noticed two guys sitting in the second row. I did a double-take on a guy who was sitting by the window because he looked familiar. He was wearing a ball-cap, but had just taken off his sunglasses when I was looking at him. At first, I thought, “maybe I know this guy from Texas, but I can’t quite place him.” My wife and I went ahead and took our seats. After the plane took off people began to move around some, and the stewardess came around to take orders, etc. I was still thinking I knew this guy in front of me, or at least had seen him somewhere before. After about 10 minutes in the air, he got up and went to the front of the cabin for a minute or two. I told my wife, “honey, that guy looks familiar to me. Either I know him from somewhere in Texas, or he’s famous. I know, he might be in that band called Creed.” I had seen the segment on VH1 about Creed, because I watch “Behind the Music” all the time. As he was coming back to his seat, I caught him before he could sit all the way down and said, “hey man, don’t I know you?” He used his knee to prop himself up in his seat, looked over the seat, and said, “I don’t know, do you?” I said, in a low pitched voice, “you wouldn’t happen to sing would you?” He said with a grin and a gleam in his eye, “ I’ve been known to sing a little in the shower.” I said, “yeah, but I think I’ve seen you singing somewhere else.” He smiled, stuck his hand out at me to shake, and said, “I’m Scott from Creed.” “I thought I recognized you, “I said in a low pitched voice, because I didn’t want to stir up any commotion on the plane. I told him I had seen the VH1 segment, and that I had enjoyed it. He didn’t say much about that, just kind of nodded, and said, “where are you from?” I told him we were from a dinky little town about 50 miles south of Forth Worth, TX. and had been in Fla. on vacation. I stretched out the shirt tail of my new Skynyrd tour t-shirt without saying anything, and he said, “Oh man, I love Lynyrd Skynyrd. We spoke about the death of Leon Wilkeson for a moment, and he commented on how much tragedy Skynyrd has been through over the years. He then began to talk about his son, and his eyes really lit up. He told me his son’s name is Jagger. The first thing that came to mind was Mick Jagger from the Stones, and I said, “you must really like the Stones a lot!” He grinned and said, “No, that’s not why I named him that. The word Jagger means “messenger”, and his middle name means “from God.” My wife and I both said, “Cool!” _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp To unsubscribe or change your preferences for the Creed-Discuss list, visit: http://www.winduplist.com/ls/discuss/form.asp
