And then get all upset when he lashes back? Can any of you remember the exact URL to every website you have read something on in the past month? Past 2 weeks? How about the past 3 days? And I take it that because he didn't provide a URL, that made it okay to call him a crack user? To attack him and other Linux users (by the way, I took the "Linux Butt Buddies" as a personal attack, since I happen to be a Linux user, and currently enjoy it more than Microsoft... be glad you didn't direct it strait at me... I tend to not play as fair)? How are you to honestly know what he has and has not seen and read on websites? Perhaps it's possible that a site that he visited wasn't sharing factual truth... we don't know that... and as much as he might be at fault for not confirming what he may have read before mentioning it to us, I don't think once he made a direct attack on Microsoft until the point where one of you referred to him as a druggie, and told him to put the crack pipe down, and a couple others began to attack such things as his grammar, his typing skill, his intelligence, his choices, his opinions (want me to keep going?). Not like any of that was uncalled for, right? So what was it that fumed you all first? When I posted a virus warning that effected only Win2K/WinNT computers, and mentioned that I was installing Linux on one of the computers here soon, and Jim and I began a discussion around that? God forbid that we might actually discuss the option of a operating system other than one produced by Microsoft, and the benefits of using said system. Was it by chance where Jim and I began discussing an old joke that used to float around the internet a couple of years back that compared Windows to a virus, using the same form of a College Term Paper? See, the point is, not once were we outright attacking Windows... until you guys began an assault on Linux, and people who choose to use Linux. Don't anybody try telling me that you were all innocent and that the comments that Jim threw out the past 3 days were uncalled for, as he had been taking abuse for 2 solid weeks and just rolled with it (if you would prefer, I could go back as far into the archive as I need... mine goes back a year... wouldn't be hard to find things from 2 weeks ago). Keith mentioned in his post about considering filing a complaint with Ed about the comment that Jim made. Does this mean that Jim has right to file a complaint about what Keith said to him on the 18th when he commented that Jim had been using a crack pipe? Or again on the 22nd when he again insinuated that Jim had been smoking crack? What about the "Linux Circle Jerk Crew" comments? Were those called for? You guys attack Jim because he posted an article about OfficeXP instead of about WinXP, and ride his ass about it for a week... are you even aware of who REALLY posted the article? Or perhaps WHY they posted it? Nope... you simply took it as another reason to attack him. Go back in the archive. It's there. And it wasn't from Jim. You guys go after him for his use of the term "Windoze", apparently not even aware that is a widely enough used term that it got it's own dictionary definition. "Microsloth Windows /mi:'kroh-sloth` win'dohz/ n. (Variants combine Microshift, Macroshaft, Microsuck with Windoze, WinDOS. : Hackerism(s) for `Microsoft Windows'. A thirty-two bit extension and graphical shell to a sixteen bit patch to an eight bit operating system originally coded for a four bit microprocessor which was written by a two-bit company that can't stand one bit of competition. Also just called `Windoze', with the implication that you can fall asleep waiting for it to do anything; the latter term is extremely common on Usenet. See Black Screen of Death and Blue Screen of Death; compare X, sun-stools." So he chooses to use that term. Live with it. Throughout this entire argument that you guys have had with Jim, you haven't exactly been the innocent listers who were attacked over and over. Wow. He took abuse from you for 2 weeks before lashing back. I think that's what is most surprising, and not what he said. I personally would have lashed out much sooner. Jim must truly be a very patient individual. But I guess all in all, you guys have won, right? You've proven that you're capable of not only pushing someone to the point that they feel the need to attack back, but you're also capable of running almost any longtime lister from here that you choose. Who's next? I mean, Jim was probably one of the only original members left, since he was a member here on the Creed list before most of you even knew who Creed was. Tara's been here for 3 years... want to start on her next? Let me give you some material. She has a Compaq Presario 2410ES. Pretty much totally un-upgradeable. It came with 32MB of RAM, a 3.6GB HD, and a 266MHz processor. Obviously, she didn't know much about computers. Feel free to cut her down for it. Of course, I'm not saying whether she knows more about them now or not, and apparently, it doesn't matter anyway. You cut down on Jim for not knowing MS terms and program names, whether he knew about computers or not. How about me. I've been here for a year. Want some material for me? How about this. I hang around with hackers. I converse with hackers. I share files and programs with hackers. I have a Packard Bell M602 which came with the same 32MB RAM, 266MHz, and 3.6GB Drive. I fried that drive the first week I had the computer, and ended up with a 1.6GB. Looking at my computer, you can tell that I know pretty much nothing about them. That alone should give you material to go after me with. But I'll continue, since I would rather you picked on me next instead of someone else. I have played with hackers, and have had them say that I have one of the most secure b0x's they've come across. I use KaZaA. I rip MP3's. I download MP3's. I burn MP3's. I share them, too. No, I do not send money to the bands when I download one, either. Sometimes I won't even buy the album if I only want one song. I have 6 Operating Systems on CD. I didn't pay for any of them. I'm not going to tell whether any of them would have cost me money or not, but I will say that they were all downloaded. So is this enough for you all to start attacks on me now? Why don't you stop whining that what he did is so wrong but what you all did was so right, and start acting like adults, instead of like school children in the playground. My psychology teacher had an interesting little lesson that he used to drill into our heads at least 3 times a day. "Live in the now... that is the only real time. Don't bother living in the past, since it's already happened. You can't change that. Don't linger for the future, since it hasn't come yet, and it never will. The only true thing you can change is what is happening at this exact moment." Why don't you all stop living in what was said in the past, and start moving on with your lives? Of course, that would be the mature thing to do, wouldn't it? Although I AM starting to doubt a lot of the presence of maturity in several of the people, so I'll expect no change. As you were.
