I was 15 when I took driver's education and got my learner's permit, and 16 when I got my license. However, my 15 year old sister (HANDS OFF, KEITH!) could drive when she was 14, as long as she had an adult over 21 in the car with her. I think the voting age is the same in all states - 18. With the alcohol thing - I know one argument that gets used is "I can go to war and die for my country at 18, but I can't have a beer?". I do see some validity in that argument - my ex-husband joined the army at age 18. He was married, had a child, and could have potentially have gone to war and fought and died for his country... but he couldn't have a beer. It is kind of odd when you think about it like that. Of course, there are also varying levels of maturity... he was plenty mature enough at 18 to drink responsibly, but in the college town I just (thankfully) moved out of, there are plenty of 20-something's who shouldn't be allowed within 10 miles of cough syrup, let alone beer or liquor.
