I would love to say British bands rock, all else suck, but unfortunately, it's more or less vice versa. Even Niger produces better bands than we do! Although, of course, we do produce some good bands(anyone want my reco's just ask!) but it's very few. 'needle in a haystack' is a term that springs to mind.
