I graduated high school with honors at age 17, with plans to be a professional musician, or perhaps a music teacher. Scholarships, offers of full ride scholarships (to out of state colleges), grants, etc... I decided to take a year off first, though... move out on my own, "find" myself, and hang out with my friends (who were all either still in high school or not attending college). But, a year after I graduated, I got pregnant with my oldest son... and let me tell you, they don't make those college desks big enough for pregnant women's tummies! Since then, I've finished about half of my teaching degree (I gave up the idea of being a professional musician - requires too much traveling), had another child, got married and divorced, and so on. I WILL finish college someday, but it's taking a lot longer than I'd originally planned, and there've been a few lousy, low paying jobs in the meantime. On the other hand, I have two wonderful little boys who love me with or without a college degree - and I recently discovered that my five year old can pick out a Metallica song within the first few notes. We've been listening to a hard rock station in the car (the only place it'll come in), and he also seems to like Rob Zombie, Linkin Park, and Drowning Pool... and to think, the first concert he ever went to was Grateful Dead...
