================================================ Subject: But it is NTFS5 -- win2k file system From: "Creed - 7M3 - Live" To: Date: Sun 19 Aug 2001 22:06:23 -0400 ================================================ The NTFS specification has contained meta data structures to support user disk quotas for some time, but Win2K with NTFS5 is the first NT version that can natively use these disk- So win2k is the first NT version... that can support.. Basically, with the added ability to read file systems of a broader nature. I look for NT5 to catch up to the Linux development. For them to adding the ability to deal with Unix file systems. I see that venture, as a positive move. I believe that one of the articles said something about the installation program converting any NTFS4 file systems to NTFS5. The main reason that I asked the question, regarding the type of file system was, I can set up my computer to read all sorts of file systems. If I ever did dual boot and have win2k installed on my computer. I would like to be able to transfer files to and from my NTFS file side. Presently, I transfer files to and from windows drives,(VFAT32) from the Linux side. But, I wanted to know if I would have to add NTFS, as another file system, to read. I know a bit about MS... but not a whole bunch. Later, Jim Kevin L. Brown wrote: > Don't you know?
