As I said before, Clippy and the 7 dwarfs exist in Office 9 and you could select them or turn them off. 2. Most people won't. There are few new features that people are clamouring for. Most of the new features are more helpful to corporate customers (A rather large customer base for Microsoft). With the notable exception of Frontpage 2002, there isn't anything very compelling in Office XP.
