Compulsory?  Yay, freedom.

Our system is based on a state system.  There are no national elections.  Each state picks delegates and sends them to vote for them.  Each state has delegates assigned based on population so the more populous states have more.

(delegates are called "electors" which gives us the term "electoral college".)

Hey Kevin

I am an aussie I don't know how the system works but I did hear reported that one of the failings of your system is that the person with the lesser total as in number of people who voted for them can still win in your system. I also had heard that this happened last election so yeah but how can you expect a proper perspective when turning up is non compolsory.

Using Australia as an example it is not compulsory to vote but it is compolsory to atleast turn up to vote, voting is secret & a few other things so yeah but In America you can if you want but we dont really care.
