Because I swear that's what you were saying. The fact is, that nothing you've posted so far has even gone so far as to hint that it's the only option available to consumers. Even this article makes it clear that it's being offered as an option. If I choose to, I can still use any other version I want and when/if I want to upgrade I can choose to buy the new product and not take them up on the subscription offer. Of course, we've seen nothing about the Windows XP pricing yet. Probably because it hasn't been decided yet. DebbiR And in all fairness to Jim, I will say that the pricing model for support is moving to a subscription based model for everyone, including individual end users. Currently, most businesses utilize some flavor of subscription for their support. So, I think it's pretty safe to say that support will require subscription (i.e. you pay for a certain number of incidents or a certain period of time for that product). But that's separate from the application. I just thought I'd make that clear. -----Original Message----- From: Creed Discussion List [mailto:CREED-DISCUSS@WINDUPLIST.COM] On Behalf Of Creed - 7M3 - Live Sent: Wednesday, August 15, 2001 8:30 PM To: CREED-DISCUSS@WINDUPLIST.COM Subject: Clippy, He's still there! I know that this subject is pretty over expressed. But, I found this article about Clippy. He's still there. http://www.8wire.com/articles/?AID=2060 The article is also about Office XP and not the OS. But, it does refer to subscription. The most interesting news in the article. Is that references to the activation and deactivation for Clippy were covered.
