About Apple systems. I know that they are great on graphics. Also that the new OS is Unix based. As you are supposed to be able to run Unix based programs on the version 10 (X). with that ability. They are more into the future OS of interoperability. But not being an apple user. I follow it very little. About Java... I believe it is pretty much open. The problems that I have had with Java based pages on the Internet were all Windows non-conformance problems. Like writing to already used memory. Which caused the browser to crash with errors.Since Linux (Unix based) has great memory management. Compared to M$ leaky memory management. Sun has given the source code of thier office package to the open source community. So if you want a free office package. you can go to either star's site or to http://www.openoffice.com and get the open source version. But for M$, I'd have to pay for it.Why pay for bugs and copyright restrictions. when you can have a comparable version with the operating code. so if a bug is there. you can "unbug" it and share your improvement with other computer users. >> >>Shameful that i can't speak "Jive" or shameful that English is such a >>widespread language in the US? > > Careful there, Jim. They would understand where that remark came from. I can't speak any of our cultural sublanguages. So racism is not an issue there. " Slippin to the crib" or whatever the vocabulary and word replacements are way beyond my scope of expertise. > Jim We're constantly being bombarded by insulting and humiliating music, which people are making for you the way they make those Wonder Bread products. Just as food can be bad for your system, music can be bad for your spirtual and emotional feelings. It might taste good or clever, but in the long run, it's not going to do anything for you. -- Bob Dylan, "LA Times", September 5, 1984 To unsubscribe or change your preferences for the Creed-Discuss list, visit: http://www.winduplist.com/ls/discuss/form.asp
