When my cousins from New York came to visit us in Cali, they were
appalled at the way we spoke. They said "ya all speak like the people on
TV!!!" That was kinda weird. But considering they said stuff like "get in tha
ca" I should have suspected..
About the school thing, my little sister, who is in 1st grade, was
doing really bad in school, when she normally excels. We went to have a
conference, and the teacher said "Elizabeth is having a hard time adjusting
to her quad-lingual environment."  My Mom nearly flipped.  I mean, OK,
Bilingual is ok, but being in a classroom composed of
vietnamees, spanish, english, and Portuguese, that's a little bit too much for
a first grader... All it did was form "cliques" amongst the stuents...

Well, it's not like those from England speak English any better than
those from Wales, Scotland, Ireland or Northern Ireland.
