================================================ Subject: Re: General "Survey 1 of 2" Stuff From: "Lee Reed" To: Date: Sun 5 Aug 2001 23:53:34 -0400 ================================================ personally, i think that there should be a 'foreign language' requirement from 1st grade on...how many of us took two years of high school spanish, french, etc...and don't remember a damn bit of it (except, of course, how to swear!LOL) it's a proven fact that smaller children pick languages up more quickly and easily (us 'older' folks have too many bad habits ingrained!LOL) instead of focusing on the damn 'proficiency' tests, let's give our kids an education which will truly prepare them for the future...many foreign countries require their student not onlly to learn a 'foreign' language, but english as well...that is why their students are better prepared to work in today's world economy than ours... Lee (who also believes that if you are coming to this country, you should learn the language...forget the hate mail guys...if i moved to another country, i would do my best to learn their language, okay?) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Keith P.
