================================================ Subject: Language ... Not a bonding tool ... Plus Bob Dylan's wise words (sig) From: "Creed - 7M3 - Live" To: Date: Sun 5 Aug 2001 17:22:34 -0400 ================================================ I have to admit that a common language is not a cure all. But does aid in the ability of people to undestand each other easier. I was curious to as what dual and multilanguages do to making larger barriers to people. In a neighborhood that I grew up in, there were a lot of hispanic people. We all spoke English and there didn't seem to be any major confrontational issues. My next door neighbors were from Peurto Rico and we hung out a lot together. I couldn't talk to thier grandmother. Since she only spoke Spanish. But I enjoyed being around all of the members of the family. I visited the neighborhood years after I moved away from it and what I saw was basically the same thing. Hispanic and Anglo populations with very little prejudices among them. Now, about music! Bob said it best in 1984. (See below) Jim Kevin L. Just as food can be bad for your system, music can be bad for your spirtual and emotional feelings. It might taste good or clever, but in the long run, it's not going to do anything for you. -- Bob Dylan, "LA Times", September 5, 1984 To unsubscribe or change your preferences for the Creed-Discuss list, visit: http://www.winduplist.com/ls/discuss/form.asp
