Very interesting in particulat because I hadn't thought of it from that angle, although, and this really is a question and not just a rhetorical point, if one nation decides to secede from another, should the laws of the nation from which the secession is being performed be considered valid? Yeah, that "suspicious military presence" was sort of a joke, but an uncle of mine wanted me to include it. Thanks for the explanation though, it makes sense and I'm gonna have to try it on him. Unfortunately, yes, the border is rather "open." It's not the way that we'd like to see it, but the damned corporations just love that cheap Mexican labor, so nothing happens. In my opinion we should have a fuckin' military base along the border (more for the intimidation value than any thing else). Yes, it does seem that the Hispanic-types are beginning to outnumber us Anglo-types, they already comprise about 40% of the population (most of them are illegal). We should strengthen immigration laws at least tenfold or face the inevitable future. A Texian is defined as a descendant of a Texas Independence War veteran, yes all of those veterans are dead but their progeny keep the title. And what's bigoted about any of this?
