Band changes From: "Lee Reed" To: Date: Mon 23 Jul 2001 02:31:06 -0400 ================================================ you are right, in that they can do whatever they please, because at this point, they do control what they do...but i do feel that everything u2 has done prior to atylb has been cutting edge, new, innovative...is atylb 'back to the roots' or is it 'sellout'...good fodder for an argument, don't ya think?LOL Lee (and girlfriend, ya can't be that old...at least no older than me!LOL) ----Original Message Follows---- From: Debbi R I'm not sure what's in it for them to be creating music for anyone. With their success, they have plenty of money, so that's not it... They've no doubt been able to name their terms as far as recording and touring commitments go. What's left? When you whittle it down, they're left where they began. If they were going to do something to appeal to the masses, I'd think it would be at the very beginning of their huge success, like during and immediately after The Joshua Tree Tour. That's when they had incentive to keep the train moving. No, I truly believe they're doing what they do -- nothing more complicated than that. And because they can. But that's been their style since I first started listening to them when October was new. GOD I'm old. thing...and i feel that with this latest album, they've done the exact opposite and created music for the masses...even tho they have gone on record saying they just wanted to get back to their rock roots...
