I mean, to me, the founders of "grunge" (i.e. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden) are the only ones that come close (they did after all start an entire new "sub-genre"), but Kurt Cobain and Nirvana are no more, Chris Cornell and Soundgarden are no more (and IMO, that's a damn shame; those guys ROCKED!), and Pearl Jam is (also IMO) just another band now. Yet (again, IMO) Metallica continue to break new ground. I mean, S&M!
