Band changes From: "Keith Mears" To: Date: Sun 22 Jul 2001 17:35:16 -0500 ================================================ To expand on the "Madonna analogy" (and I can't get too specific, since I'm not a fan of hers), she changes her entire persona with pretty much each new project. When she burst onto the scene, she was "Like A Virgin", wore wedding dresses in her videos, going for the "pristine" look. By the time she was the "Material Girl", that look was passé, and she was playing the "sexpot". "Papa Don't Preach" found a more toned down, almost RESPONSIBLE Madonna. Then there's "Vogue" Madonna, which when viewed along with "Truth or Dare", brings us to "SexNUT" Madonna. And let us not forget "Like A Prayer", which was so controversial it almost could not be aired. My point is that while all her "changes" could be viewed as "selling out", IMO, this is a woman with an ACUTE sense of what her fans want, or more appropriately, what her fans WILL BUY. She changes "looks" (hair-style/color, fashion, SOUND) like most of the rest of us change our clothes, yet she continues to be a driving force in "popular" music. Like her music or not, I think Madonna is an incredibly talented artist, and is no more of a "sell-out" than our beloved Creed. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Creed - 7M3 - Live" To: Sent: Sunday, July 22, 2001 2:17 PM Subject: Re: Odp: Re: Selling Out. ..
