It seems that ANY time a band changes it's sound in the slightest, they've sold out, and I find that notion ridiculous. One of the reasons for continuning to make music is to reach a larger and more diverse audience. But if the band DOESN'T change their sound/look/attitude/SOMETHING, the music, IMO, suffers in the long run. It becomes boring, because it becomes redundant. To draw something of an analogy, when clothing fashions change, that's considered a good thing (even when BELL-BOTTOMS become cool again!). Why should music be any different. To draw a more apt analogy, look at Madonna. She changes with EVERY SINGLE CD, but nobody (that I know of) labels her a sell-out. Just some food for thought. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Creed - 7M3 - Live" To: Sent: Saturday, July 21, 2001 9:40 PM Subject: Re: Odp: Re: Brian Marshall m/c > The point that you brought up reminds me of the posts that some of the > Offspring fans thought about them when they came out with Americana. > > I bought that album on my search to Gone Away.
