This was in our local newspaper this week (The Tennessean). I found it interesting. Creed spinoff band to launch in Nashville Did ya know that Creed bassist Brian Marshall got booted from Creed (Take Me Higher) and formed a new band called Grand Lux? So why should you care, you're asking yourself? Turns out that the Grand Lux will be fronted by Nashville boy Matt Knabe, 23, who used to front a band called Project Simon that played around town. Matt's local work history includes stints at Wolfy's and the Olive Garden (in RiverGate). Matt, after four years of waiting tables and looking for gigs, finally landed in Brian's new band after auditioning in Florida. Seems Matt knew an engineer who knew a friend of Brian, and . . . . Well, you get the picture. Now, Matt has moved to Florida, where he lives in Brian's house, just outside Orlando. And he couldn't be happier. ''I can't think of how many people I told, 'If I could get in Creed and get rid of (lead singer) Scott (Stapp), it'd be perfect,' '' Matt, 23, said yesterday. ''Grand Lux, it's in that same vein, but completely different.'' Grand Lux plays its first public gig July 20 at Wolfy's Den, in the arena's tower on Lower Broadway. It's an unplugged show that'll cost you $10 at the door. "Grand Lux?" Hmm anyone else confused?
