good point, jess.  might bring a new audience both directions.
 
to the original artist because they like the cover tune AND to the cover artist because they're familiar with the original.

I see you just couldn't resist acting childish, that's too bad, you were
actually making a valid point for once.
I do think it's a bit much for artists to cover fairly recent songs, it just
doesn't give the song enough time to be missed.  Yet it's also good for  
introducing a new audience to music which they would have otherwise ignored.  
Perhaps those who had not heard the orginal before may be compelled to listen
to it, and maybe other Collective Soul songs.
