We used to get a statistical chart up at the firehall every year right before Halloween that would list off the year's (to about September) deaths, injuries, and such from homemade explosives, and accidents involving fireworks, and all that kind of preventable stuff... and a real scary thought was that no matter how much campaigning people would do about safety at home and stuff, and how many commercials, and how much pamphlets are printed out and handed out at schools, the numbers kept rising. I always figured it was because there just wasn't enough survivors to talk to everyone else about what happened, and why it should never happen again. "Dead people can't tell you what they did wrong... they can only tell you that they shouldn't have done it at all" was my old chief's line... perhaps it's just one of life's learning experiences? ¤]\[][G}{T§TÖ®]v[¤ http://NightStorm.isyourgod.com/ NightStorm_Draco_@hotmail.com NightStorm_Draco@creedlist.com NightStorm@isyourgod.com I've seen the wicked fruit of your vine, Destroy the man who lacks a strong mind Human pride sings a vengeful song Inspired by the times you've been walked on My stage is shared by many millions, Who lift their hands up high because they feel this We are one We are strong, The more you hold us down the more we press on What if you did? What if you lied? What if I avenge? Until it DID backfire and took out half of his thigh. He wouldn't be here today were it not for the foreign exchange student studying medicine and hanging out in the United States for a semester that was living across the road. That guy literally held onto his femoral artery until the ambulance arrived (probably 10 or 15 minutes.) He's had 5 surgeries since this happened 15 years ago, but has beat all the odds. Doctors not only said the student saved his life, but told him that over time the grafts and artificial arteries would give out and he'd probably lose the leg eventually. Since he's a fireneck(;-) scott)/snowmaker/logger by trade, I'm glad he didn't.
