What I like about Creed Importance: High Awesome story, Jim! I've heard them basically say the same thing - it was radio and internet that has made them. They're QUITE clear on that. Wind-up was featured some time back on their marketing strategy and how it relates to the internet. The fact that their strategy put Human Clay number 1 on it's release week above Garth Brooks who had a 2 hour tv special and some ungodly marketing budget. This is basically what wind-up said. What I like about Creed Basically, I like all of the Internet interaction of all of the Creed fans. When I first heard My Own Prison on the Radio. I loved the song. I knew that they were a new band. But thought that they might be one of those "One Hit wonder" bands. Anyway, after running into getting the wrong artist on first try (The DJ mentioned something about Green Day, so I thought that he said the band was Green Day, So I bought Nimrod. Making a Nimrod out of me. Since it was the wrong group.) Anyway, later on, Another DJ mentioned the correct name of the band and I just so happened to be pulling into a store that sold music. So with the name of the band fresh in my head. My wife and I looked for the Creed album. She found it before I did.But it was the right album anyway. After we got out of the store. I put the CD in my player and played MOP about 5 times. since I had such a hard time with getting things right with the artist and album search. Then I went to the website listed on the album and started posting and reading messages on the original BB. On there, I read a lot of posts about them playing small clubs. Comparisons of Creed to other groups. Discussions about other bands, both religious oriented and other bands. Truthfully, without the bands Internet presense. I might of only listened to MOP and shortly after that lost interest in the band. But Creed is the first band that I really explored through the Internet. I might of started liking thier other songs off of MOP. But I really don't know. But with thier long spands of time from one album to the next. I'm sure I would of forgotten about Creed after awhile. I'm used to bands making it to the known and pumping out album after album. As did AC/DC. Which was a rising band in my younger days. But they stood with thier music and no Internet. I'm not sure how bands would do with an exclusive radio play. But no Internet stuff. Probably, like the WAWO and Higher popularity that they have on the popular music stations. but, I doubt that they would of made it without the Internet. Since the bigger record companies were set on Rock being a thing of the past. Wind-up with thier Internet promoting and Hanson had a great deal to do with thier sucess. But maybe the radio stations that were innovative and open to new talent would of put Creed up to where they are. But it might of came at a slower rate.
