A couple of us that were around then e-mailed Ed (this new guy that we had never seen, heard of, or talked to) and mentioned that we've topped 100 a day before. He upped it to 500, and said that we should be careful with what we post... to try and keep it a little on topic. After much "arguing" (not actual arguing, but a discussion that went back and forth several times). Here was the final conclusion, that he sent to the list, and CC'd to everyone that was talking to him about the limits. ----- Original Message ----- From: Ed Kiang To: Sent: Friday, March 23, 2001 2:17 PM Subject: Msg From Admin: Frequently Asked Questions > Welcome to the new Creed Discussion List. > I would have posted this a little sooner, but I've been flooded with support issues from people who have been a little > confused about what's going on with this list. > (Scott cutting out the part about Useful Commands) > Now that I have that out the way, let me introduce myself. So, some of you are asking, "if he's not the moderator and he's not the owner, then who > the heck is he?" Well, I'm the tech guy who sets up the lists. I have received a lot of questions about the list settings, so I'll > answer them here: > > 1. I have lifted the per day limit to 500 messages. > 2. I have capped each message to 250 lines. 250 lines should be more than enough space to say what you want to say. > Putting a limit will prevent people from clogging the system with super long sig files and old postings that get attached to the > bottom of replies. Again, this block is not negotiable. > (Scott cutting part about "why the new list") > Thanks for your patience and understanding. > > Ed Kiang > Wind-up Records (Scott here) And a note for people trying to unsubscribe... don't try and do it all via e-mail... a lot of e-mail sites (like hotmail) attach a bunch of useless garbage at the bottom about things like MSN Explorer and stuff... if you want to unsubscribe, then read this info that Ed posted a couple of months ago. > Hotmail/MSN Users: I've been doing some homework on the problem of sending commands to the server from Hotmail > accounts. As it turns out, the sig blocks work fine with our server in the standard format. The server bombs out when you > send commands using Hotmail's "Rich Text Format" option. So, if there is one thing you read in this email: > DON'T SEND EMAILS USING RICH TEXT FORMATTING. > All other users: Because of recent abuse of the system (people unsubscribing other users through the web form), I have > implemented command validation. Remember, try not to use sig blocks when sending commands, and don't use any special formatting like rich > text. > To unsubscribe or change your preferences for the Creed-Discuss list, visit: http://www.winduplist.com/ls/discuss/form.asp (Scott again) So if anyone wants off, go to that website I just posted (ironically it's the same site at the bottom of 90% of the e-mails that come from the list). And perhaps when this list finds something Creed-related to talk about, and come close to our 500 limit, one of us can e-mail Ed and discuss the possibility of the cap being raised. Until then, I think it's stuck there. I think about the only reason I would join a third Creed mailing list is to avoid all the stupid fights and arguments and personal attacks... and the other list I'm on doesn't have any of that, so I doubt I'll be going for a #3. ¤]\[][G}{T§TÖ®]v[¤ http://NightStorm.isyourgod.com/ NightStorm_Draco_@hotmail.com NightStorm_Draco@creedlist.com NightStorm@isyourgod.com I've seen the wicked fruit of your vine, Destroy the man who lacks a strong mind Human pride sings a vengeful song Inspired by the times you've been walked on My stage is shared by many millions, Who lift their hands up high because they feel this We are one We are strong, The more you hold us down the more we press on What if you did? I dunno what's up with a 500 message limit. I've said it before, I think it's downright insane. Either way, I've been asked by several people here to host a list. I might do it if there's enough interest so let me know if you're interested. To unsubscribe or change your preferences for the Creed-Discuss list, visit: http://www.winduplist.com/ls/discuss/form.asp
