================================================ Subject: Msg from Admin: Testing new stuff... From: "Ed Kiang" To: Date: Sun 1 Jul 2001 00:20:48 -0400 ================================================ Hi all, Short version: I'm testing out some new servers and some of you may have received or will receive duplicate digests. That's my fault. I'm sorry and I'll try not to let it happen again. There will be an interruption of service early next week for about an hour or two. I'll try to keep it to a minimum. Detailed version: In the next couple of days, I'll be moving all of our lists to a new dedicated mail server. Part of the problem in doing this was making sure that all of our existing stuff doesn't get lost. As a result, I wanted to bring a copy of everything to the new server while the old server was still online. I figured that I could test the new server and fix any bugs prior to launch while you guys continued to use the old server. Unfortunately, the discussion lists temporarily live on both servers, so some of you may have received messages twice. I have since disabled the discussion lists on the new server. When the new server's come online sometime early next week, there will be about a one or two hour interruption in service where there will be no emails coming in or going out. If you try to send a message into the system, it will probably bounce during that time. I will try to let you know in advance of when that will happen, but I can't promise anything because the mail migration is just one piece of a much larger migration that is also occurring with our other services. AOL Update: For those of you that don't know what the AOL problem is: We are having a problem with some AOL users not receiving emails from our server. It's been a couple of months and I have yet to receive any meaningful response from AOL as to what the problem is. I am in continous talks with AOL and even went so far as to pull some strings to get one of the super-technicians through an AOL Music contact...and still, nothing! When I know more, I'll let you guys know. But I apologize for the inconvenience.
