Rather than irritate or anger the person who was in question, he totally understood people's skepticism. It was that (and a lot of encouragement from those of us that saw the train wreck coming) that got the technical people on the site to change the infrastructure of the chat logon so that those associated with the site (chat hosts, employees, etc) were uniquely identified. I'd hope that armed with information, ScottS would appreciate the skepticism as well. I think the final thought on it was "let's not potentially piss off Scott Stapp, just in case it's him, by calling him a fake". Also, hotmail is pretty easy to use to send something out one time, and then just ignore it (and any responses from it)... if he used a Wind-up e-mail addy, he probably wouldn't be able to just ignore responses. With a hotmail addy... sign up, subscribe, send your post, and then just let the address die a natural death without having to worry about millions of fans responding to the "everyday" e-mail address. I know people who'll get multiple hotmail addresses to use in contests or the like, and then never touch the addresses again, just letting them close on their own. Maybe something like that?
