================================================ Subject: Re: Perhaps this will be a "Later to all the real listers" From: "Tara" To: Date: Tue 19 Jun 2001 18:50:54 -0400 ================================================ *sigh* I think this makes the four thousand three hundred and sixty-third "disagreement" I've seen on this list... Jon, seriously, this topic has been beaten to death several times in the past. "My religion is better than your religion" "no it's not" "Yes it is! And you're going to hell unless you change your mind, because my beliefs are the only RIGHT beliefs" And so on... Let me say first that I don't think old-timers have more say than newbies... however, in cases like this, the people who've been on the list a while know how this whole thing goes. I myself have seen almost the exact same argument more times than I care to remember. I've seen several old-timers leave, and it's usually because the "newbies" insist that just because they've joined the list, things are going to go THEIR way, and they'll behave however they want on the list. It's easier to just unsubscribe than it is to argue with an unarmed person. I am also going to suggest, very nicely, that this would be a wonderful time to drop the entire discussion, and find something less inflamatory to discuss. You shouldn't go around telling people they're wrong because they have different beliefs than you, and attempting to force said beliefs upon others. There are many different religious ideas among the members of this list, and 90% of the time, it's not a problem... we just agree to disagree. As for your discussion with NightStorm... well, when you start hassling someone who's been around a while, you may find out that their friends will support them, even when they have different opinions. I have friends with very different opinions than my own, who will still support me if someone tells me my OPINIONS are wrong... because they believe in each person's right to have their own opinions without being bashed for them. In a lot of things, such as religion, there's really no way to tell what's absolutely true or not... religion is a matter of faith... I don't think people with different views than my own are wrong, their views just don't agree with my own. So please don't tell other people that they're wrong just because they disagree with you. There are as many different opinions as there are people in the world. Enough of that... I'm starting to ramble yet again... lol Tara To unsubscribe or change your preferences for the Creed-Discuss list, visit: http://www.winduplist.com/ls/discuss/form.asp
