And that's exactly why most artists don't own the rights to their own music. The original topic, if you remember, was whether it's ok to steal music from WHOEVER owns the rights to the music. And I'll still argue that it's not appropriate. You don't seem to have weighed in on the original discussion but this red herring is a great deflection. Are you arguing that because they're rich and can get laid whenever they want it's ok to take their music and not pay for it (assuming they have enough clout to negotiate the rights to their music in their contract)? Or in the case of the majority of artists, who relinquish rights to the record companies, is it ok for them to have their property used without payment? Software writers don't own the product of their labor. The company that paid for the computer, software, office space, etc, etc own the rights to what their employees produce. If musicians could produce everything themselves and make money, they would. They can't. They need help. And in return for that help, they give up rights to the product they're producing. They get rich. They have thousands of screaming adolescent girls offering themselves at every tour stop. They get to take their families around the country with them as they tour. I'm having a hard time feeling sorry for them. To unsubscribe or change your preferences for the Creed-Discuss list, visit: http://www.winduplist.com/ls/discuss/form.asp
